with reduced dependence on traditional clients. The properly educated architect-developer can assume ultimate
decision-making control of project concept, site selection, budget, design, construction and marketing, by also assuming the
role of client-developer. Ultimate project control by the architect-developer should result in better architecture, better
construction, better end-user satisfaction, better financial compensation, and increased career security and satisfaction. My
approach to architectural practice and small-scale development can be a model for sole practitioners and small to medium size
firms struggling to compete for conventional clients against ever larger and stronger A/E firms and design/build competitors.
